Team Description & Purpose of Role

The CAT Team provides centralised sales and support for nominated customers, plus follows up web sales leads and supports marketing and telesales campaigns to both new prospects and existing customers.


Job Responsibilties

To provide Presales Support to CAT Sales Team and the Central Sales Desk:
- Knowing and being able to present confidently the technical benefits of Interoute, our network and our products.
- Knowing about any advantages we have over competitors in the technical space
- Being able to positively relate customer requirements into our offering and qualifying out opportunities with requirements that Interoute can not meet.
- Being able to answer questions from customers about how our proposed design solves their issues
- Understanding the kind of technical issues that customers have around buying whatever service we are trying to sell them, being able to anticipate and answer their questions.
- Providing technical administrative support for Sales Order Processing Teams

To be responsible for a technical design that fits the customer requirement and expectations. This includes:
- Technology (access (DSL, Leased Line, Ethernet)
- Topology (layer 1, 2, 3)
- Performance & SLA (delay, jitter, availability)

To be responsible for understanding where a customer solution is standard or non-standard. This includes:
- For any solution, understand what is standard and what is not standard and engage Regional Sales Engineers or Solutions where large opportunities warrant a non-standard solution

To ensure orders are appropriately designed, priced, approved, and delivered. This includes:
- Global Tail Quotes - putting in quotes for correct bandwidths, taking account of major technical requirements such as when to use MPLS and when to use point to point circuits
- When supporting Voice or VPN orders, completing Data Capture Forms with enough information for operations to deliver effectively
- Ensuring that costs that have been input to the pricing tool(s) are accurate and take all elements of the design into account.
- Advise and lead Sales and the Customer from a technical & commercial perspective, particularly in terms of Optical, Ethernet, VoIP, and VPN services
- Maintain awareness of the IT and telecommunications markets.


Experience Required

- Pre-sales consultancy/network design experience in System Integrator/network provider.
- Experience of technical sales support to service providers and/or corporates / government for voice, transmission, Ethernet and IP services
- A demonstrable understanding of a number of the following: - VOIP, Soft Switching, TDM switching, SDH, TCP/IP in a LAN/WAN environment, Managed Services, VPN, Ethernet, Hosting, and Voice over VPN technologies, Access Services, Routing/Switching technologies including Ethernet and MPLS.
- Conversant with Voice and VoIP signalling is highly desirable, as it knowledge of PBX's and Carrier Switches.
- Its important that the successful candidate will be guided by the business need, rather than the organisational structure, can adapt quickly to changing needs and can operate effectively in an environment with few support structures in place initially

- Must be flexible, high energy, and able to adapt to the changing needs of a start-up business.
- Must be a team player, and be capable of interacting with other staff at all levels to achieve the best possible result.
- Must have good interpersonal and negotiation skills, both within Interoute and with customers.
- Must be able to multi task due to the nature of the role
- High level of commercial understanding and focus
